ombré & combination
eyebrow tattooing

By jess nichols

Ombré brows are ideal for makeup wearers.
This style of tattoo creates a powdered and more filled in look as though you are wearing a brow pencil or powder. We use am electric tattoo machine to create a misting of pigment that is implanted underneath the skin in a customised shade.

Combination brows are the perfect sweet spot for someone looking for something natural, yet slightly fuller.
Comprised of implanting realistic looking hair strokes throughout the brow using a fine microblade, then using an electric tattoo machine we implant a soft misting of pigment between each stroke which creates the illusion of a fuller brow.

 good to know

  • If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed by another artist in the past, please let us know by sending photos of your existing eyebrow tattoo to us via email before booking an appointment, so that we can tailor our advice and ensure your desired result is achievable alongside the existing tattoo for best results!

  • This is a 2-step process, comprised of 2x sessions spaced 6-12 weeks (min/max) apart. The second session is crucial and allows us to make any necessary additions or adjustments to ensure you are in love with your brows for as long as possible! It is imperative both sessions are completed for best results. All subsequent sessions must be completed with your original artist.

  • Most clients re-visit us every 1-2 years on average for a “refresh” or “colour boost” session, which usually takes 1-2 hours max. This session is similar to the initial touch up session and helps to redefine shape and detail to keep your tattoo looking its best for another 1-2 years, before your next maintanence session — low maintenance FTW!

  • After 24 months with no maintenance sessions in between, a new full session is required at full price, to allow enough time to thoroughly re structure and recreate your brows.
We recommend coming in every 1-2 years for a touch up!

  • The minimum age requirement to be tattooed is 18 years old.

2 sessions, 6-12 weeks apart, are required to consider your tattoo fully complete, though an extra-natural result may be achieved with 1 session.

before & aftercare instructions

Eyebrow tattoo tattoo pre-care

  • Stop using any skin or blood thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids ect) on the brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Do not apply any topical anaesthetic/numbing cream to the area prior to your appointment.

  • Botox or dermal fillers should be done 4 weeks prior or 2-4+ weeks after your appointment (only necessary in the same area as your tattoo)

  • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment, this may cause excess bleeding and may affect your healed results.

  • Caffeine should be had no sooner than 4 hours before your appointment time. This is to prevent excess bleeding, increased heart rate and fidgeting clients :)

    • This means NO COFFEE for at least 4 hours before your appointment, please!

After your tattoo, you can have as much as you like.

  • It is helpful to come in with your brows filled in or styled as you may usually/are hoping to replicate, and bring reference photos that you like to your appointment, this is super helpful for your artist and gives us a starting point to work from.

  • You may experience hypersensitivity and more discomfort around or during your menstrual cycle.

  • We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores or raised freckles or moles in or around the brow area, but your artist will do their best to camouflage/work around these things if possible.

  • GET EXCITED! You are in incredibly safe hands with us and we can’t wait to meet you :)

Eyebrow tattoo after-care

DAYS 1 - 4

Follow the below steps in the morning and the evening of the first 1-5 days following your tattoo session:

  • Dampen a sheet of paper towel with warm water and wring out the excess water.

  • Gently blot and firmly press the towel over each brow to absorb+clean any lymph/oil/sweat away.

  • Repeat this step with a dry sheet of paper towel to absorb any left over moisture/water.

  • Allow your brows to air dry for 1 minutes before applying a rice grain sized amount of the provided balm across both brows with sanitised hands or a cotton tip.

Dry skin — apply balm 1-2 times per day.
Normal/Combo skin — apply balm once per day/every other day.
Oily skin — apply balm once every two days.

Remember to keep your brows completely dry aside from the blotting steps, until the flaking/peeling has stopped. Do not submerge your face underwater or allow any other water to contact your healing tattoos.

It’s important to not over or under moisturise your new tattoo, so assess them each day and maintain a minimal/supple amount of hydration. If the balm is building up - there’s too much!

It is normal and expected for your brows to feel extra big and dark in the first 2 weeks. Don’t worry, trust the process!

DAYS 5 - 9

In this time frame your brows will begin to flake and peel, similar to a mild sunburn. A little itchiness is normal. Remember not to pick or scratch and allow the skin to fall away in its own time for maximum retention. You should apply a small amount of balm as needed, being careful not to disrupt the healing process or overload the skin with cream.

DAY 10+

Once the flaking has finished, your brows will feel softer and less visible. Some people feel they have totally disappeared!
This is completely normal, as the skin will continue to heal for up to 12 weeks into the deeper layers.
You may apply a small amount of balm every few days from here if you like.

REMEMBER:

  • No makeup or products on/near your new tattoo for 14 days

  • Avoid touching your healing skin as much as possible

  • Only use the provided aftercare balm

  • Be gentle when washing your face and showering, keeping your brows as dry as possible throughout

  • Allow your tattoo to heal in its own time and don’t pick at it!

AVOID THE FOLLOWING DURING THE HEALING PROCESS:

  • Scratching/picking/touching dry skin or flakiness while healing!

  • Direct water on your tattoo and the use of cleansers, soaps or heavy creams. Wash around the areas using a cleaning cloth or makeup wipe.

  • Activities that will cause excess sweating on the tattooed area for 10 days

  • Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas/steam rooms or hot exercise classes for 2 weeks

  • High UV exposure (including tanning beds)

  • Laser light therapy, as it can darken/lighten or distort the pigment

  • Exfoliants, retinol acids or AHA’s on or near the area for 30 days after the appointment (this may cause premature fading)

  • Massages, facials or skin treatments on or near the area for minimum 2 weeks

Eyebrow tattoo tattoo long-term care

  • Eyebrow tattoos can last up to 1-5 years depending on the lifestyle, skin type and aftercare of the wearer

  • Excess exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause premature fading and discolouration of the pigment
Once completely healed, always apply sunscreen on your tattoos - all of them!

  • Avoid using chemical exfoliants on tattoos as it will cause them to fade

  • Makeup application may still be required post tattoo to achieve your desired look, we aim to create natural results that enhance your natural beauty so if you’re going for a more dramatic look this can be achieved with makeup on top to have the best of both worlds!

  • HOT TIP: use a cotton tip with water or makeup remover to remove excess foundation/makeup from your brows after you’re done to avoid them getting lost under foundation and looking faded!

  • Yearly touchups with your original artist are recommended to maintain your best results
